Ontario Grain Farmers Volunteers needed for Digital Farming Study
Research Study: Perspectives of Ontario Grain Farmers on Digital Farming & Big Data in Food
University of Waterloo, School of Environment, Resources, and Sustainability
The emergence of new technologies and applications of Big Data give rise to a new model of agriculture, digital farming, as GIS mapping technology, drones, sensors, and advanced computer hardware become common-place in farm operations. There is growing positive enthusiasm for digital farming; however, government, industry, and academic discourses often do not represent those most directly affected—farmers.
We are looking for the perspective of grain farmers or people who work on farms that grow soy, corn, or wheat, in Ontario. Participants will answer an online questionnaire (less than 10 minutes) and have the option to volunteer for a more in-depth interview in person or over the phone (30-40 minutes).
